My ‘SERIOUS’ style of caricature

Sometimes a client is nervous about commissioning an exaggerated caricature of a colleague. In such cases I am often issued with a list of demands, not to make the ears too big and not to make him ‘too fat’ amongst many others.

This is anathema to the purist caricaturist and many refuse to work under such demands.

In my case, the request almost always comes after they’ve seen the first rough and balked at the idea of making a present out of the mild contortions I make out of their beloved colleague’s face. I find this fairly amusing, really, considering I have many colleagues whose habit of turning faces inside out make my mild newspaper-style caricatures look like respectful boardroom portraits.

However, I quite like the change of habit and it is always an interesting exercise ‘keeping the customer satisfied’.
